Star Wars Battlefront II microtransactions are coming back

Star Wars Battlefront 2 On Track To Sell Less Copies Than Battlefront 2015

Overall, net bookings were down $99 billion to $1.971 billion, which was $29 billion below EA's guidance.

The controversy reportedly hurt relations between EA and Star Wars licensor Disney.

In other news, Electronic Arts confirmed that Star Wars: Battlefront II has sold 9 million copies since its debut in November 2017.

Jorgensen made the confirmation with the Wall Street Journal, bundling the re-introduction of the (hated) microtransactions with the game's financial results.

Before letting Jorgenson take the spotlight, Wilson continued that the big learning curve is that "there is no one size fits all" when it comes to microtransactions.

Khloe Kardashian Expresses Grief Over The Loss Of Her Dog
But, the friendly skies can be notoriously hard on pregnant women in particular, and Khloe Kardashian is no exception. Khloe's little sister Kendall also posted a tribute, as the model said she'd "forever miss her kisses".

Investors aren't seeing that as a disaster. So much so that EA isn't yet ready to talk about the future of the franchise beyond their 2020 fiscal year. EA shares are up 4.8 percent to $123.53 a share in after-hours trading.

Compare to Battlefront 2 the previous title that was released in the year 2015, 14 Million copies were sold till the end of fiscal year. We wanted a game that would meet the needs of the vast and passionate Star Wars fan base, so we designed it with the intent of keeping the community together, and a commitment to continually add content long after launch.

Gamers who stuck to their principles and boycotted the game over the loot crate controversy will hope their stand has compelled EA - and the industry at large - into a more serious rethink. But a year ago, EA released Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2, making for a tough comparison to year-ago figures.

EA's stock price went up on Monday after the Polygon news site reported that EA may be the target of a Microsoft acquisition. That's certainly what EA would like us to believe. We can expect that the live services will continue for Battlefront 2. Yet, at the very core, they must always build on the foundation of player choice: that might be the choice of whether a player engages in a particular mode or not, or whether they decide to grind for something or not.
