First Look: Jamie Lee Curtis Returns as Laurie Strode on Set of 'Halloween' Sequel

David Gordon Green directs and co-wrote the film with Danny McBride.

The tagline for director John Carpenter's original 1978 slasher classic Halloween was "The night he came home!" - the "he" in question, of course, being the homicidal Michael Myers. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode, Judy Greer plays her daughter, and the film will introduce Laurie's granddaughter as presumably another potential victim for Michael Myers. That includes the second installment, which went on to say that Laurie was Michael's long-lost sister. She later resurfaced in Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, and was last seen in Halloween: Resurrection. Same slate. Same Laurie.

The actress is returning to the franchise in David Gordon Green's new "Halloween" movie.

"Halloween" sequel has officially kicked off production. As you can see, she has the same hair style she had in the first two films.

You can hold off on purchasing your costumes, pumpkins and candy for several months, but if there is one Halloween-related task you must accomplish today it is checking out Jamie Lee Curtis' Twitter.

The 2018 Halloween film will also star Virginia Gardner, Miles Robbins, Dylan Arnold, Drew Scheid, and Will Patton. Another interesting detail that Curtis points out: Green seems to be holding the original slate used to shoot the first Halloween film, a souvenir he was no doubt loaned by Carpenter.

We don't know much about the story of this new Halloween other than the fact that it's a sequel that disregards all Halloween films after the first Halloween II. Original director John Carpenter has been along for the ride, overseeing the project as executive producer and creative consultant.

The new Halloween film, which could end up being the final one in the franchise, hits theaters on October 19.
