Former Michigan governor John Engler has been appointed interim president of Michigan State University. "It's humbling to accept this interim position in these hard times at my beloved alma mater, Michigan State University".

Engler was elected Michigan's 46th governor in 1990 and served until 2003.

John Engler, shown here in 2014, was named interim president of Michigan State University on Wednesday, amid the fallout over sexual assaults committed by former school sports doctor Larry Nassar. We now know that the longtime MSU professor and employee abused north of 250 women or girls as a Michigan State and USA Gymnastics doctor. The school has also said it will bring former Democrat Gov. Jim Blanchard, another MSU graduate, as a senior adviser as well.

"As tragedies are politicized, blame is inevitable", Simon wrote in her resignation letter.

Former Michigan State rower Cate Hannum, who was treated by Nassar and wrote an open letter criticizing Simon's handling of the case nearly a year ago, said Hollis' departure gives her hope for the future of the school's athletic program.

In just the past week, the university's president and athletic director have resigned. "I take solace that many victims have indicated that the opportunity to confront Nassar is a step toward healing", she said. "I am proud of my support of their work even though the results have been very painful to all who watched", Simon said.

Also raised as a possible interim choice was former Grand Valley State University President Mark Murray, who also served as president of Meijer Inc.

Faculty and student leaders raised similar concerns at the trustees' meeting Wednesday, including one who sat for a few minutes in the middle of the board's conference table.

E-cigarettes may harm DNA and cause cancer
There was also conclusive evidence that e-cigarettes can explode and cause burns and projectile injuries. The team exposed mice to e-cigarette smoke for three hours each day, five times a week for three months.

He says working to change things "starts today".

She said in her resignation statement there was no cover-up at MSU.

"What's got Michigan State in some trouble here is the sense that they withheld certain information", Forsyth said.

"This is what I wish people understood", Tracy said about the ire her public comments created when she referenced this conversation.

Engler vowed to "change the culture" to restore the university's reputation and make the president's job more desired than its current status in the higher education business.

A MI judge says more than 265 people have come forward to say they were sexual assault victims of disgraced former sports doctor Larry Nassar.

The agency reported that MSU's grievance procedures failed to comply with the requirements of Title IX, and that "the University's failure to address complaints of sexual harassment, including sexual violence, in a prompt and equitable manner caused and may have contributed to a continuation of this sexually hostile environment". "I suggest new leadership is needed".
