Janelle Monáe gives stirring Time's Up speech at Grammys

Time's up for discrimination.

Kesha thanked the Recording Academy and the women who took the Grammys stage with her Sunday night during her emotional performance of "Praying".

Monae, 32, added that sexual misconduct and harassment is "not just going on in Hollywood".

Before her performance at the 2018 GRAMMYs, Kesha revealed that she was nervous to perform her powerful song "Praying" at the 2018 Grammy Awards.

The song off "Rainbows" - Kesha's 2017 album - represents her return to music after a yearslong legal battle with Sony Music producer Dr. Luke over sexual abuse allegations.

His name is Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, a long-time producer for Sony Music more commonly known as "Dr. Luke".

"Praying" is the singer's first single after enduring a tumultuous hiatus of five years. In light of the song's release, the singer penned an essay on the Lenny blog where she expressed the meaning of the ballad.

We're all the better for finally having Kesha back. "It's also about hoping everyone, even someone who hurt you, can heal". The performance began a capella, putting a particular emphasis on the touching lyrics.

This month's Golden Globes was strongly focused on #MeToo and #TimesUp, so music fans, of course, were wondering if the Grammy Awards, held Sunday night at New York's Madison Square Garden, would be similarly political. Many celebs wore white roses on the red carpet to show support for the Time's Up movement, and Kendrick Lamar kicked off the show with a politically charged opening number featuring U2 and Dave Chappelle.

Clinton appeared in a pre-taped skit in which host James Corden "auditioned" celebrities including former Trump opponent Clinton to read passages from Michael Wolff's bestseller, "Fire and Fury".
