Gronk helps Tide get the message across: don't eat laundry pods

Is the 'Tide Pod Challenge' a Real Thing?

The latest teen craze may be the most baffling: daring each other to eat Tide Pods and post the videos online.

And even though I shouldn't need to say this, please don't eat Tide Pods.

Google also released a statement saying, "YouTube's Community Guidelines prohibit content that's meant to encourage unsafe activities that have an inherent risk of physical harm".

In the meantime, people can take their own extreme measures to combat detergent-eating, thanks to this security "robot" which is definitely not a joke at all.

Procter & Gamble, the parent company of laundry detergent brand Tide, have said they are "deeply concerned about conversations related to intentional and improper use of liquid laundry pacs". They're eating laundry detergent pods.

YouTube has confirmed it is removing videos showing the challenge.

2 more deaths in North Dakota attributed to flu
Still, the hospital opened a special "flu zone" on Monday where nurses can quickly treat patients with mild influenza symptoms. Though flu deaths are typically concentrated in the elderly population, that's less the case than usual this season.

And they've been brilliant, even going as far to request those who have been eating Tide Pods give them a call when they're feeling better.

The Tide pod videos constitute a violation of the Google-owned (GOOGL) video platform's longstanding policy, which prohibits potentially harmful or risky content. Facebook, the social media giant that also owns Instagram, is also taking action to combat the trend. "DOING LAUNDRY. Nothing else". "Eating a Tide POD is a BAD IDEA".

The viral videos are just one of a series of scandals facing YouTube and its content creators, such as Logan Paul, which has spurred Google into action through the restriction of advertising revenue.

Warnings were also sent out by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission noting that "a meme should not become a family tragedy. They should only be used to clean clothes and kept up, closed and away from children", a Tide spokesperson said in an interview with BuzzFeed.

Now most of the calls involve 13- to 19-year-olds.

Two years later, College Humor's Don't Eat the Laundry Pods video showed a college student trying to eat a laundry pod, and dares to eat the pods began popping up on Reddit and Twitter, per USA TODAY.
