Donald Trump: I could beat Oprah in presidential election

President Donald Trump says he's confident he could beat Oprah Winfrey in a battle for the presidency in 2020 - and says it would be "a lot of fun".

After slamming NBC News for its deleted "OUR future president" tweet about Oprah, and using it to take more shots at the network, Hannity then derided "private jet liberals" over their "newfound political affection for Oprah".

Meryl Streep was quoted as telling the Washington Post that she wanted Winfrey to run for president.

"I slept on it and came to the conclusion that the Oprah thing isn't that insane", tweeted Dan Pfeiffer, a former senior advisor to Barack Obama, the president Winfrey was credited with helping to elect in 2008. "They just don't understand how many Americans respect and admire Oprah for her intelligence and caring", he wrote.

"I want all of the girls watching here now to know, that a new day is on the horizon", she said in a speech about civil rights and the #MeToo movement.

"And here's why. The media and the left in this country, well, they now seem to think Oprah is the one person that can help them fulfill their ultimate goal-to destroy Donald Trump and defeat President Trump", he added.

LaVar Ball says Lakers 'don't want to play' for Luke Walton
Clearly, LaVar is a father who wants to have input on how his sons are coached, who they play with, and what they do on the court. We [ownership, front office] talk all the time, and there're 100 percent behind in supporting what we're doing here".

Oprah, raised in poverty by a single mother, went on to host the top-rated talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show for 25 years before stepping down in 2011 to focus full-time on her production company Harpo Productions.

Three months ago, Winfrey made it clear she had no political ambitions during an October appearance on CBS This Morning. King asked "Do have a vice presidential candidate in mind?" But we should also be mindful that many people have underestimated Winfrey during the course of her long career.

And I have tried many, many, many times to explain what a moment like that means to a little girl, a kid watching from the cheap seats as my mom came through the door, bone exhausted from cleaning other people's houses. He said that he knows Winfrey "very well", before again saying that he didn't think she would run.

"Yeah, I'll beat Oprah", he answered.

Hollywood's loathing of Mr Trump and bafflement that a crass-talking reality star with no previous government experience could win the presidency have fuelled talk of, well, why not another TV star, only one with the "right" politics.

It is not the first time that Winfrey's name has been associated with a White House.
