National Football League investigating Panthers again for potential violation of concussion protocol

On Sunday, the Carolina Panthers were in the midst of trying to complete a comeback victory over a team that had beaten them twice already during the season, but a monkey wrench was thrown into their plans when Cam Newton took a vicious shot from a Saints defender late in the 4th quarter.

With eight minutes and 26 seconds left in the NFC wild-card playoff game against the New Orleans Saints, Newton went down after a hit by Saints backup defensive tackle David Onyemata.

However, The Washington Post noted, in the wake of a joint NFL-NFLPA investigation into the handling of Texans QB Tom Savage's concussione during the regular season, the league and union announced modifications to the protocol, one of which came into play Sunday regarding Newton: Any player who falls or stumbles after suffering a potential head injury must be be taken to the locker room for a concussion evaluation.

Newton was evaluated for a concussion in the medical tent, and was cleared to return. He led a touchdown march that got Carolina within one score, but their next and final possession ended with a turnover on downs.

The NFL is investigating the handling of Newton's concussion protocol.

The NFL's new concussion protocol, implemented on December 11, included the notice that the league will 'require a locker room concussion evaluation for all players demonstrating gross or sustained vertical instability (e.g., stumbling or falling to the ground when trying to stand)'.

Pakistan promises 'cold-blooded' response to Trump's abrupt aid cut
The State Department's declaration signalled growing frustration over Pakistan's co-operation in fighting terrorist networks. In his tweets , Trump blamed Pakistani leaders of covering up their misdeeds with "lies and deceit".

The organisation stipulates that any player suspected of having concussion must be evaluated in the dressing room. "I thought maybe somebody had stuck their finger in my eye, but I've got on a visor, so that couldn't happen".

Later, coach Ron Rivera claimed that Newton was "actually poked in the eye" and only taken to the tent as a precaution.

Newton said after the game the problem was with his eye, not a head injury.

'NFL concussion protocol should have dictated taking out Cam Newton and examining him immediately after direct hit to his head, ' Pat Leonard wrote. But again, I'm not the doctor.

"I've just got to be better", Newton said. Jordan said. "Look, he like spun". "We're going to send him a nice little bottle of Jordan wine. I appreciate him. So I'm gonna send him some sauce", Jordan said - an obvious reference to Newton's earlier comments.
