Censor board moots title change for Padmavati

Padmavati: CBFC Finally Certifies The Film, But Only On These Conditions Including Changing The Title!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavati is likely to hit the theatres soon with a changed title.

The special panel included Arvind Singh from Udaipur, Chandramani Singh and professor KK Singh of the Jaipur University.

The censor board has chose to give Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati a UA certificate without any cuts but has suggested that the director change the film's title to "Padmavat" besides making four other modifications.

Padmavati", the 190 Cr budget film, has drawn angry protests in Rajasthan where fringe groups like the Karni Sena says the movie "distorts history'.

The board has also suggested modifications in disclaimers, pertinently adding one regarding not glorifying the practice of "Sati" and also relevant changes in the song "Ghoomar" to befit the character portrayed, he said.

Maryville offers real Christmas tree disposal
To participate in the program, residents are asked to place their undecorated trees on the curb in front of their homes. Many entities collect or accept Christmas trees , including various waste haulers and landscapers.

The Rajput body's member Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi has said that the film has been cleared "under pressure from the underworld". Sources said the modification details and the CBFC's decision regarding Padmavati were shared with the producers, Viacom18 and the director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and they have in principle accepted to this condition of modifications.

The row took an ugly turn when threats were issued against Bhansali and Deepika."Padmavati" also features Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.

CBFC had also approached three erstwhile rulers, Raghuveer Singh of Sirohi, Maharawal Jagmal Singh of Banswara and Vishwaraj Singh Mewar, for their expert views on the film. "Considering complexities and concerns around the film the requirement for a special panel was felt by CBFC to add perspective to the final decision", it added. The outrage sparked off following the rumour of dream sequence between Rani Padmini and Alauddin Khilji broke out. The panellists had some reservations regarding the claimed historical events & socio-cultural aspects of the film, which were duly discussed at length, CBFC claims. They even burnt the sets of the movie in outskirts of Mumbai. Protestors were angry over picturisation of Deepika Padukone's song Ghoomar and they also feels that the facts were not rightly shown in the film.

Rajput organisations, including Karni Sena came against the movie openly and called for a nationwide ban.
