Woman hit with $284 billion electric bill

Woman gets $284 billion electric bill

Spending time with family, eating lots of good food, and catching a few days off of work are enough to put a smile on anyone's face, but one Pennsylvania woman's December glee turned to misery when she unwrapped a nasty gift from her electric company in the form of a $284 billion bill.

"My eyes just about popped out of my head", said Mary Horomanski, 58, in an interview with GoErie, "We had put up Christmas lights and I wondered if we had put them up wrong". She thought maybe her Christmas lights had done something wacky because her bill was more than $284 billion. The first installment, due that month, was for $28,156.

She was told she had until November 2018 to pay the entire amount.

After discovering the bill, Horomanski had her son call Penelec, Horomanski's electric supplier, for an explanation. Her son took the matter up with the electricity providers, who later confirmed that there indeed was an error in the monthly statement.

United Kingdom passports to turn blue after Britain leaves the European Union
Existing burgundy passports will continue to be valid until they expire. "In the 2016 referendum, we wanted our passports back". The famous "old blue" was first issued in 1920 after the League of Nations agreed to standardise passports.

Mark Durbin, a spokesman for Penelec, said a decimal point was probably put in the wrong place. Horomanski has got over her scare now and can even make jokes about the incident.

Horomanski told the Erie Times-News the $284 billion bill also caused her to ask her son for a different Christmas present this year.

In another case a Florida man opened up a bill for $12,000 from his electric company. The power company acknowledged the mistake and said they really appreciated the customer reaching out.
