Former Alaska governor, VP candidate Sarah Palin's son assaults father

Track Palin appears with his family at the Republican National Convention 2008 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Minn. on Sept. 3 2008

The son of former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin has been arrested on suspicion of assault and burglary in her home state of Alaska.

Sarah Palin's oldest son, Track, has been arraigned on charges that he assaulted his father at the family's home in Alaska. Track Palin then broke a window, entered the house and began beating his father, the newspaper reported.

The attorney of Sarah and Todd Palin said neither were able to comment on the incident. He then allegedly kicked his girlfriend, threw her cell phone and threatened suicide with his AR-15 rifle, according to the documents. They say he demanded police put their weapons on the ground and allegedly called them "peasants".

Earlier this year his ex-girlfriend Jordan Loewe applied for a protective order against Palin, having previously requested full custody of their one-year-old son. There was no attorney listed for him.

Palin pleaded guilty to being intoxicated while possessing a firearm.

Sarah Palin indicated when her son was first accused of domestic violence in 2016 that post-traumatic stress disorder might have been a factor.

New information has been released after the arrest of Sarah Palin's eldest son Track.

"I guess it's kind of the elephant in the room, because my own family going through what we're going through today with my son, a combat vet ... like so many others, they come back a bit different, they come back hardened", Palin told the rally crowd in Tulsa.

"Given the nature of the actions conducted last night by the police and the charges involved, the Palin cannot comment further", attorney John Tiemessen said in a statement to NBC News on Sunday.

A court filing describes a chaotic scene at the family's home in Wasilla, Alaska, when Palin confronted his father over a truck he wanted to pick up. "They ask that the privacy of the family be respected during this challenging situation as it would be requested by other people who care for a family member in distress".
