Power Outage At Atlanta Airport Causing Delays In DFW

The city of Atlanta provided shuttle services to the nearby convention center for stranded passengers, and Chick-fil-a even opened its kitchens on Sunday to serve more than 5,000 meals at the airport.

Spokesman Michael Thomas said the airline should be "largely if not completely" back to normal by Tuesday, well before the big travel weekend ahead of Christmas Day. The fire was next to equipment for a backup system, causing that to also fail.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed tweeted around 7:30 p.m. ET that power at Concourse F of Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport had been restored.

The Atlanta Airport, along with Atlanta Police Department, are restricting the vehicles allowed to the terminal drop-off and pick-up area due to congestion. Disabled people had to be carried down stairs and escalators in the chaos.

The FAA tower did not lose power during the incident.

Some passengers reported being stuck in airplanes for around three hours.

However, hundreds of flights are still facing delays and cancellations as of Monday, according to FlightAware.
