Arians said Wednesday that there had been no improvement in the condition of Peterson, who had missed the team's past two games. Pelissero reported that Peterson won't need to undergo surgery for the injury.

He finished the season with 529 rushing yards on 156 carries between his time with the Cardinals and New Orleans Saints. he scored two touchdowns. "Obviously, I'm disappointed about going on IR when my body is still able to produce, but I look forward to returning completely healthy for another season in 2018. I'm grateful for the opportunity that the Arizona Cardinals have given me to show that I can still contribute on an National Football League team". He also caught 11 passes on 19 targets.

Injuries have been a recurring theme in Peterson's career.

Peterson promptly came alive with the Cardinals, rushing for 134 yards and a pair of scores in his desert debut.

It's usually not the best move to give a 32-year-old back 37 carries in a game, and Peterson struggled after that.

Then, he fell back to earth, failing to rush for more than 79 yards over the next three games before suffering his neck injury. Friday morning, long snapper Aaron Brewer was activated after spending the last eight weeks nursing a wrist injury he suffered against Philadelphia in October. This season, Goodwin played 12 games for the Falcons, recording five tackles on defense and three on the special teams unit.
