Bon Jovi finally inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announces Bon Jovi, The Cars, more as 2018 inductees

"Livin' on a Prayer" rockers Bon Jovi, British bands Dire Straits and the Moody Blues, the late Nina Simone and The Cars will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, organizers said on Wednesday. Four of the winners of the fans' ballot - Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits and The Moody Blues - will be inducted as performers in 2018. It was, 'Let's go out and make this happen.' And we actually did.

To be eligible for this year's ballot, each nominee's first single or album had to be released in 1992 or earlier.

Bon Jovi was thankful for getting in.

The inductees were voted on by music fans and 900 music industry experts and will be inducted at a ceremony and performance show in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 14. An edited version of the ceremony is set to be broadcast on HBO soon after the event. Sambora tells Variety, "Oh yeah, I have no problem playing". The band says they're open to welcoming back ex-guitarist Richie Sambora, who left in 2013, for the induction, and it appears he's also down. The Moody Blues played a local show previous year when they performed at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. "Us Brits are very bad at celebrating ourselves".

NKorea unlikely to agree to talks on ditching nukes: Tillerson
This year, the North has conducted more than 20 ballistic missile launches and one nuclear test explosion, its most powerful yet. But Tillerson for now seems set on remaining secretary of state, and dismissed reports that he may be replaced as "laughable".

But this year, the five inductees are nearly a mirror image of the top fan vote-getters, as though the electors didn't know whom to vote for and watched the results of the straw poll for guidance.

Artists who were nominated but didn't make the final list including Judas Priest, Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead, Kate Bush, the Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, MC5, J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, the Meters and more.

Likewise, former Moody Blues' members Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas could rejoin the pioneering English band after many years apart.

As Pitchfork points out, the class has some significant omissions, most notably Radiohead, who were nominated in their first year of eligibility and are considered one of the most influential and innovative bands of the past quarter century. Should that be the case in April in Cleveland, it would mark the first public performance by Dire Straits since the group disbanded in 1995.
