Russell Simmons Faces New Rape Allegations

Syracuse native Kelly Cutrone says Russell Simmons tried to rape her

The five women's charges come after reports in NOVEMBER detailed accusations from model KERI CLAUSSEN KHALIGI and from screenwriter JENNY LUMET against the founder of DEF JAM RECORDINGS and CEO of RUSH COMMUNICATIONS (NET NEWS 11/30).

"I felt assaulted", she recalled.

Russell Simmons has been accused of rape by four women in incidents spanning from 1983 to 1996 in New York Times and Los Angeles Times reports both published Wednesday (Dec. 13). The Times reports she told four friends about the alleged assault at the time, but did not report it to police.

One accuser, a former executive at the Def Jam music label, claims he raped her in 1995, The Times reported.

Dixon claimed Simmons openly talked about how she aroused him, allegedly "regularly exposed his erect penis to her", and once pushed her into a broom closet and tried to kiss her. "I vehemently deny all these allegations", he said.

Another woman, Tina Baker, accused Simmons of raping her at his apartment when he managed her singing career in the 1990s.

"I didn't sing for nearly a year".

Christina Moore and a friend met Simmons in 2014 in the elevator of Miami's Soho Beach House.

Chinese, Russian FMs meet on bilateral cooperation
The three countries also said those committing, organising, inciting or supporting terrorist acts must be held accountable and brought to justice.

Simmons and fellow producer Rick Rubin helped bring hip-hop to wide United States audiences in the 1980s when they founded Def Jam, a label that signed major acts such as the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J and later Public Enemy. "Although I have been candid about how I have lived in books and interviews detailing my flaws, I will relentlessly fight against any untruthful character assassination that paints me as a man of violence".

In a statement provided to The Times through Simmons' lawyer Brad D. Rose, he vehemently denied any nonconsensual sex.

Other women who spoke out relayed stories of alleged misconduct by Simmons, ranging from an assault inside a nightclub bathroom, to using his position at Tantric yoga studios to pressure instructors and members into sexually inappropriate situations. Numerous alleged victims have now left the music industry - either as artists or executives - due largely to their negative experiences with Simmons, they said.

"I did nothing", she said. Simmons said the sex with Klalighi was consensual. She claimed no one was there when she arrived, so he offered to give her a tour, leading her to his bedroom. When Russell went to her bosses for help with the issue, she said she was told it was common behavior for Simmons.

Following the allegations by Lumet and Khalighi, Simmons, now 60, announced that he was stepping down from his business empire, including his yoga venture Tantric, so as not to serve as a distraction.

However, Russell continues to deny all of the claims in a statement as obtained by E!

Sherri Hines, who performed under the stage name Sheri Sher in the '80s, said Simmons invited her to see his NY office and raped her there.

Additionally, Simmons said the stories presented in the media are "one-sided" and some unnamed girls have even tried to extort him for $500,000. The presumption of innocent until proven guilty must not be replaced by "Guilty by Accusation". "While I have never been violent, I have been thoughtless and insensitive in some of my relationships over many decades and I sincerely and humbly apologize". "I'm happy that the truth is coming out".
