Nintendo Makes Comeback As Nintendo Switch Sales Total 10 Million

Holiday Wish Guide Gifts for Nintendo Fans from Budding Gamers to Experienced Players

Despite the company's warnings, the Nintendo Switch is in stock online and in stores. While by the end of 2014 the PS4 stood somewhere around 18.3 Million units sold. Users can then pop the tablet out of the mobile "Switch Console" and plug it into a "Switch Dock" base-station that allows for play on a TV.

The Nintendo Switch, or How Nintendo Got Its Groove Back, is now in the hands of about 10 million people worldwide.

The Switch has clearly exceeded Nintendo's wildest expectations, and today the consolemaker confirmed that notion with a few sales numbers. Nintendo is clearly onto a victor with the Switch and its mammoth sales growth goes to show it.

Nintendo Makes Comeback As Nintendo Switch Sales Total 10 Million

So, why has the Nintendo Switch been a success? The GameCube sold 21.7 million units in its seven-year lifespan, meaning if the Switch continues on its current trajectory - which is certainly unlikely - it will have overtaken the GameCube in under two years since its release. To compare, the Wii U sold around 13.6 million units in its entire lifetime while the GameCube's 21.74 million is well within reach. It should become easier to find for the holiday season thanks to increased production, but still, getting a Switch has been fairly hard since it came out.

Looking over to the Switch game department, the device will gain much more titles to come that will obviously expand its library of games, which will most definitely attract more gamers and fans alike to move more units.

"Typically if you have a title where one out of five owners have bought a game, that's strong", Fils-Aime said. While the launch of PS4 was staggered, with the large Japanese market getting its share months later, Nintendo's console appears to have been affected by shortages in a more relevant way.
