FCC: "Desperate" net neutrality supporters won't delay vote

New York City Leads Local Government, Consumer Groups Asking FCC To Delay Net Neutrality Vote

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman called Monday for the Federal Communications Commission to delay its vote to repeal net neutrality, scheduled for next week, after his office and other researchers said they've found that more than a million comments submitted to the FCC on the issue were fake.

"With what would be a catastrophic vote by the FCC to repeal net neutrality looming, people are ready to take to the streets in protest and to offer Congress one last chance to answer the question: "Do you stand for your constituents" ability to communicate and connect, or do you stand for Verizon's bottom line?" said Mark Stanley, director of communications for Demand Progress, citing the overwhelming bipartisan support for net neutrality rules found in poll after poll.

He said that his office's own review of the public filings showed that about 1 million comments may have used names that were in fact stolen identities. Last week, Schneiderman set up a website that allows New Yorkers to report if their name and identifying info was misused to make a fraudulent net neutrality feedback comment appear legitimate.

Schneiderman, along with 27 US senators, have called on the FCC to delay its December 14 vote on net neutrality due to the fake comments.

In all, 27 senators signed the letter - expressing concern that the public comments in the case, a significant part of the FCC's modernization plan, could be corrupted by "bots".

Craig Aaron, president and CEO of Free Press, told the International Business Times that even if the court rules in the FTC's favor, "t$3 he idea that the FTC will come to the rescue if net neutrality is destroyed at the FCC is a bad joke".

Does she feel like it is a battle scar? She cherishes on/off beau Justin Bieber and is best friends with her ex, the Weeknd. The 25-year-old gave a candid acceptance speech where she spoke about her kidney transplant in September this year.

After learning that Schneiderman meant to hold a press conference on Monday afternoon alongside FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel, the FCC Office of Inspector General reportedly contacted the NY attorney general by email and offered its assistance with the investigation.

"It is clear that our process for serving the public interest is broken and I do not believe that the agency should move forward until a credible investigation is completed". And the son of a woman from Albany contacted Schneiderman's office, he said, to report that she had passed away a month before the comment was submitted.

Pai said the FCC will vote on December 14 to repeal the 2015 regulations it put in place that require internet Service Providers, or ISPs, to offer equal access to all users. "There needs to be federal investigation", he said.

Under Pai's proposal, the Obama-era rules would be reversed and ISPs would only have to disclose blocking or throttling.

Net neutrality is the principle that service providers must treat all Internet data the same and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website or other characteristic.
