Relief for Arsenal as extra-time penalty secures win against Burnley

Sanchez converted in stoppage time to earn all three points for Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez scored his fourth goal of the season as the Chilean converted a last-gasp penalty to give Arsenal a 1-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Gunners won both matches last season by virtue of last-gasp goals - a Sanchez spot-kick also proving decisive at Emirates Stadium in January - and the Chile worldwide repeated the feat after James Tarkowski was adjudged to have pushed Aaron Ramsey.

ARSENE WENGER believes the referee was "100 per cent" correct in awarding his side a last minute penalty as Arsenal left it late to beat Burnley.

Alexis Sanchez and Nacho Monreal had first half chances for the Gunners, with the latter skying a shot over the bar with vigor.

By now roles were reversed from the first half.

Burnley have now lost just two Premier League games all season. He was pushed in the back, he has a problem in his neck from the push.

"The doctor came to see me and said he [Ozil] had to travel back home, he was in the hotel with us", Wenger told a news conference.

He demanded that they respect a decentralized approach so that the aid is delivered to those who are most in need of it. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance.

And Wenger was very complimentary over Burnley's resolute defence.

"My view is that it is highly unlikely that anything else other than a penalty would have been given".

Without Mesut Ozil, who was ruled out due to illness, Arsenal struggled to break down Burnley.

Everton, linked with a move for Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill, are now just two points above the relegation zone.

Arsenal will recall a host of first-team regulars. "It's a tough one, it probably is a penalty, but my point is it was never not going to be given on today's performance, I can assure you".

Gylfi Sigurdsson's long-range strike canceled out Dusan Tadic's opener, but Austin scored two second-half headers before Steven Davis rounded off the scoring to give the Saints a deserved victory over its hapless opponent.
