FC Basel vs. Manchester United, live stream

Manchester United passed up the opportunity to secure progression to the Champions League knockout phase, as Michael Lang's late victor clinched a 1-0 victory for Basel and put the Swiss side in the driving seat to finish second behind their visitors in Group A.

United have reached the knockout stages in 16 of their previous 20 Champions League appearances.

Needing only one point to ensure victory in the group, United twice struck the frame of Basel's goal late in the first half through a Marouane Fellaini header and Marcos Rojo's deflected shot from 35 meters (yards).

Paul Scholes, meanwhile, said Pogba's unavailability explained why Romelu Lukaku had suddenly gone off the boil.

Mourinho brought on Nemanja Matic for Pogba to sure up his midfield before supplementing his attack with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford but the duo couldn't find a victor.

And Manchester United were left to rue a wasteful performance in the first half after failing to heed Basel's warning shots when Michael Lang scored a victor in the final minute of normal time.

Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand criticised the Red Devils for their poor performance in front of goal.

Trump attacks NFL player Marshawn Lynch for standing during Mexican national anthem
He then took a seat before standing again for the Mexican national anthem, although he was "not completely at attention". When Mexico's national anthem blared throughout the stadium, Lynch allegedly acknowledged the song by standing up.

"At this level you get punished".

The game is live on BT Sport 2.

A pathetic second-half performance condemned United to defeat as Michael Lang's last-minute goal capped an excellent effort from Basel.

In Man United's final training session before the Basel game, three players were noticeable absent.

The centre-back missed the 4-1 win over Newcastle United last Saturday after aggravating a thigh problem while on England duty, with Mourinho later blasting Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate for allegedly allowing Jones to receive six painkilling injections in order to start the friendly against Germany.

Rio Ferdinand has blamed Manchester United's loss to FC Basel on Wednesday night on failing to take first-half chances.
