Israel ready to cooperate with S Arabia to face Iran: Defence chief
While not mentioning Iran by name, he said Lebanon condemned all attacks against Arab nations, but blamed exploitable inter-Arab divisions that allowed global and regional powers to promote their interests.
Top US officials, including US President Donald Trump, have also blamed Iran for the Houthis' attack, with Envoy to the UN Nikky Haley calling for Tehran to be held accountable for a ballistic missile launched by Yemeni rebels targeting Saudi Arabia in July 2017, as it was allegedly an Iranian Qiam.
He replied: "We have ties that are indeed partly covert with many Muslim and Arab countries, and usually (we are) the party that is not ashamed".
He cited a ballistic missile fired by Iranian-backed rebels in Yemen earlier this month that was intercepted near the Saudi capital, Riyadh, as an example of how far Iran has gone with its aggressive policy in the region.
At Saudi Arabia's request, Arab foreign ministers are holding an emergency meeting in Cairo.
Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir told an Arab League meeting on Sunday that Riyadh will not stand idly by in the face of Iran's "aggression".
The foreign ministers of both Gulf states spoke at an extraordinary general meeting of the Arab League at its Cairo headquarters, called by Riyadh.
The ministers, according to the final statement, said they supported any action to be taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its national security, within the boundaries of worldwide legitimacy. The Saudis said the missile was Iranian-made and declared the attack an act of war by the Iranians.
Hice: One step closer to tax reform, relief
"It will stimulate our nation's economy, create jobs, and put more money into the pockets of hardworking Americans". A huge tax overhaul barreling through Congress is threatening stormy years ahead for America's working families.
Bahrain's foreign minister, Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, urged strong action by the Arab League against Iran.
Having accused Tehran of trying to destabilize the region by supplying arms to terrorist groups throughout the Middle East, the IDF chief noted that Israel and Saudi Arabia had never fought each other.
Speaking before Al-Jubeir at the 20-minute session broadcast live, Aboul-Gheit, the Arab league chief, was just as critical of Iran as the Saudi minister. Iran, he added, has destroyed any chance of building trust with the Arabs.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said on November 10 that he had "information that Saudi Arabia has asked Israel to strike Lebanon".
"Iran created agents in the region, such as the Houthi and Hezbollah militias, in total disregard for all worldwide principles", said al-Jubeir.
For more than a decade, Lebanon's political class has been largely split between the Iran-backed Hezbollah and its allies, and a Saudi-supported coalition led by Hariri.
Hezbollah is a partner to Lebanon's coalition government.
