Fleetwood wins Race to Dubai title as Rose falls short

Tommy Fleetwood of England reacts to his fans on the 18th fairway during the third round of the DP World Tour Championship golf tournament in Dubai United Arab Emirates Saturday Nov. 18 2017

Fleetwood came into the week with a lead of 256,738 points and has recovered from an opening 73 with consecutive rounds of 65, with Saturday's effort including eight birdies in the last 11 holes and a back nine of 30.

Rose needed to finish at least solo fourth, but the ensuing birdie only gave him a tied fourth place at 17-under par.

A win by either Rose, second in the points standings before the tournament, or leader Fleetwood would have guaranteed them the Race to Dubai title and a $1.25 million bonus.

U.S. Masters champion Sergio Garcia, the only other player with a chance to win the Race to Dubai title, is tied for 13th on 10 under after a 67.

Rose looked in complete control of the tournament and was cruising after 11 holes, but he bogeyed three of the next five to slip down the leaderboard.

Yet it still went to the wire - and if Rose had holed from the front fringe for eagle at the 72nd and final hole, he would have snatched the Dubai title.

Katy Perry banned from China 'indefinitely' days before Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
Page Six reports that the media is also having difficulty getting visa approval and permission to shoot outside the show's venue. This isn't the only setback Victoria's Secret staff is facing while producing the 2017 show in Shanghai, according to reports.

"It's incredible. You start the season in November/December and you are watching the last shot of the season to see who wins", Fleetwood said on BBC Sport.

"It's been a big year, baby Frankie arriving safely and he's great, I'm going to get married in a couple of weeks".

"You want the grandstand finish, you want to do something incredible to win it, but it doesn't always work out that way and a year's graft has come down to this".

"He played awesome for three-and-half days and that back nine showed golf can be a tough and unfair game, but I'll say it for a while that Race to Dubai champion is very, very cool. It's very special", said Fleetwood. "He's been leading all year and it's good for him to finish it off".

He signed off with a 63 to finish up on 18 par and tied for second, one shot behind the victor, Jon Rahm.

The 23-year-old Spaniard said: "I think more than proving to anybody else, it's proving to myself that I belong here".
