Apple delays HomePod release until 2018

Apple's HomePod delayed until next year

The HomePod also will include Apple's voice-activated assistant Siri to respond to requests like the Echo and Google Home.

Apple was originally planning to release the HomePod in December, but has now delayed it until 2018.

The spokesperson told The Verge the device will ship to the US, United Kingdom, and Australia in early 2018. But Apple promised that the speaker would have all of Siri's smarts and stand out from the pack by offering superior sound quality. Owners of the device will be able to stream music from Apple Music, control connected appliances like lights and thermostats, and get audio responses to spoken questions about the weather, sports and other news.

Texas sheriff threatens charge for anti-Trump decal
She said her family is expressing their First Amendment rights and voicing their dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump. However, The Houston Chronicle did name one of the truck's drivers - Karen Fonseca, whose husband reportedly owns the truck.

It's unclear what has caused the delay, however it's likely that the hold-up has been caused within production. They can play music, spit out trivia, manage shopping lists and put things on your calendar.

That's very different from the way other smart speakers integrate with third-party services. Although developers can make apps for Siri and HomePod, they're now limited to building things like lists, notes, and messaging. Apple hasn't been shy about talking up HomePod's audiophile credentials, squeezing six tweeters and a long-throw woofer - each powered by its own, custom amplifier - into the squat cylindrical design. But voice control is created to work only with Apple Music, the company's $10 a month subscription service. It's unclear why the product has been delayed, but it will miss the holiday rush.
