Broadcaster accuses Senator Al Franken of sexual harassment

Leeann Tweeden Lead

Leeann Tweeden, a news anchor on KABC's "McIntyre in the Morning", said in a post on the station's website Thursday that Franken had written a skit for the USO tour in which they kissed, and he demanded that they rehearse the scene.

"There's no reason why I shouldn't accept his apology", she said, adding later that Franken had an opportunity to apologize a couple years after the 2006 tour when she encountered her at a USO gala.

In lengthy remarks to the press Thursday, Tweeden said that she felt "violated" by Franken when he allegedly forcibly kissed her.

Senator Al Franken meets with constituents at Minnesota Farmfest in Redwood County, Minnesota, US, August 6, 2014.

Franken first issued an apology to Tweeden, in which he said that the photo "was clearly meant to be amusing but wasn't. I shouldn't have done it".

Tweeden also shared a photo which appears to show Franken groping her breasts while she was asleep while travelling back to Los Angeles.

Warren said that women who come forward with allegations of such sexual misconduct are "brave and deserve to be respected". "He groped me, without my consent, while I was asleep", Tweeden said. There's more I want to say, but the first and most important thing-and if it's the only thing you care to hear, that's fine-is: I'm sorry. She also said that she believes he pushed to kiss her during a rehearsal the show because they were alone. I'm not calling for that. "People make mistakes and of course he knew he made a mistake".

Hasbro, Inc. (HAS) Reportedly Mulls Mattel Acquisition
The company has a market capitalization of $5,025.33, a P/E ratio of 97.47, a P/E/G ratio of 37.59 and a beta of 0.88. TheStreet downgraded Mattel from a "c" rating to a "d" rating in a research report on Thursday, October 26th.

The USO - which sponsored the tour on which Franken and Tweeden travelled - said it was never aware of the incident.

Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Republican, has called for an investigation into the matter, Politico reported. "I've realized that the disappointing responses women often face when they go public both embolden harassers and encourage victims to stay silent", he wrote.

Comedian Al Franken poses with Staff Sgt. Allan Polasko of the 377th Theater Support Command and native of Madison Township, Ohio, during an autograph signing session at Third Army/U.S.

"I couldn't believe it. I shouldn't have done it", Franken said in a statement. He also called for the Senate Ethics Committee to investigate the allegations and pledged to fully cooperate. "I hope the Democratic leader will join me on this".

Speaking on her radio show Thursday morning, Tweeden said she didn't come forward with the allegations sooner because she feared her career, including a stint as a swimsuit model, would lead others to discount her story.

"He had a chance to apologize to me then, because he knew - he knew exactly what he did to me then and that picture was out there", she said".
