Aston Martin Valkyrie: Track version of auto designed by Adrian Newey

It's the extreme track-only version of the Adrian Newey-designed hypercar built by Aston and Red Bull Advanced Technologies.

"While it is endowed with extraordinary performance, it has always been vitally important to me that the Valkyrie functions well as a true road auto, and that naturally comes with some constraints", Newey said.

The Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro will reach customers in 2020 and all 25 have already been sold.

To help it achieve those lofty specs, the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro will also get some aerodynamic upgrades with larger wings on the front and rear.

Naturally, we're giddy to hear that they further recalibrated the Valkyrie's naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine for more power and torque, and even giddier to hear what it sounds like through a significantly lightened exhaust.

The AMR Pro runs on smaller wheels than the road vehicle - 18in front and rear, so that Michelin racing tyres can be used, which have the same specification as those used by LMP1 cars in the World Endurance Championship. The electric part of the hybrid system will remain unchanged, but Aston says that it has recalibrated the engine and made modifications to the emissions control systems (at least vehicle makers are being honest about it these days) to boost power and torque.

'Rediscovered' da Vinci painting sells for $450M
The painting depicts a half-length figure of Jesus, holding a crystal orb in his left hand as he raises his right in benediction. The painting, once owned by King Charles I of England, vanished for centuries from the public view until resurfacing in 1900.

Future owners of the Valkyrie AMR Pro will take a driver development program to get used to the car's capabilities.

The Valkyrie AMR Pro is lighter than the roadgoing version too - through a ruthless option delete process.

The power of the road-going vehicle is boosted by, basically, removing most of the emissions gubbins required for road use, with the energy recovery system also recalibrated for more effective track performance. The windshield is made from polycarbonate material, the carbon fiber bodywork is lighter and molded racing seats replace the standard ones. You know, the top class from Le Mans that became too expensive to go on in its current form. According to Red Bull Technology's extensive simulation work, the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro will be capable of achieving lap times to rival those of a contemporary F1 or LMP1 vehicle - a pace previously unthinkable in a auto derived from a fully homologated road vehicle. They sit outside Formula One-inspired race-spec carbon brakes. The program includes time in the simulator and on the track.

Only 25 of them will be built, and all are accounted for already.

Named the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, the auto has a 6.5 litre Cosworth-built V12 engine and F1-inspired carbon brakes producing a deceleration of 3.5g. The auto itself will have its own dedicated track events for owners to show up and drive.
