Page testifies he told Sessions about Russian Federation trip

Sam Clovis is the nominee for the USDA's undersecretary for research education and economics

The same documents that disclosed the meeting show Papadopoulos has pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his contact with Russians during the 2016 campaign.

Sessions later recused himself from all matters related to the campaign, citing his support for the President's successful bid. The trip was "completely unrelated to my limited volunteer role with the campaign and as I've done dozens of times throughout my life".

During his January confirmation hearing to become attorney general, Sessions told the Judiciary Committee that he had had no communication with Russian officials, only to have The Washington Post reveal in March that he had spoken twice with the Russian ambassador to the United States, Sergey Kislyak.

MARTIN: So Attorney General Jeff Sessions, apparently, was also at this meeting where Papadopoulos said he had the ability to bring together, you know, a meeting with Russians who could help Trump in the campaign.

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions must testify again before Congress on the Trump campaign's dealings with Russian contacts, senate Democrats demanded on Thursday.

When Tapper asked if Sessions, now the USA attorney general, was "the only one on the campaign that knew about the trip", Page replied: "I mentioned it to a few people".

Why it should worry you that Trump's Twitter feed went down
The reason this happened? The error message is usually for accounts that have been deleted, rather than suspended by Twitter. A Twitter employee, on his last day at the job, deactivated the account of Donald Trump on the social network.

Josh Chafetz, a professor at Cornell University Law School, said lawmakers could try to use "various other tools in the congressional arsenal", from reducing Justice Department appropriations to refusing to confirm appointees reporting to him. Page said one of the people he met was a "senior person", but would not confirm the person's identity.

"He seems to have problems telling the truth on this subject", Franken said of Sessions. He was not aware of any continuous exchange of information during the campaign between Trump surrogates and intermediaries for Russian government as Sen.

The source said the request for clarification could take several forms, such as having Sessions testify again or submitting a clarification in writing, but that has not yet been determined. "As far as Sessions seemed to be concerned, when he shut down this idea of Papadopoulos engaging with Russian Federation, that was the end of it and he moved the meeting along to other issues".

Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican member of the Judiciary Committee, said it makes sense to ask Sessions to clarify the chain of events and how he reconciles it with his testimony before the committee.

In numerous media interviews in recent months, the adviser, Carter Page, has either denied meeting Russian government officials during a July 2016 trip to Moscow or said he met "mostly scholars", the newspaper said. Trump denies any collusion with Russian Federation and Moscow denies interfering in the 2016 US election.
