GameStop appears to be launching an unlimited used game rental subscription

GameStop Confirms Game Rental Program is Real

They will be able to get any pre-owned game that's physically in their local GameStop store, but not the ones on GameStop's online roster.

At the end of that six-month period, you'll be able to keep any single game you want for free.

Earlier today, we saw a leaked GameStop ad for a new service called PowerPass.

In order to keep track of what has been rented, the service is only available to GameStop's Power-Up Rewards members, though it's open to those on both the free and paid-for tiers.

For $60, subscribers will have the ability to rent as many pre-owned games as their gamer heart desires, so long as they only rent one game at a time.

Google's Cheeseburger Emoji Has One MAJOR Flaw
Eagle-eyed mobile phone users have discovered a discrepancy between the cheeseburger emoji Apple uses and the one Google uses. Mr Pichai responded to the controversy by saying that Google would drop everything to sort out the cheese dilemma on Monday.

United States retailer GameStop has come up with an innovative solution that will help its brick and mortar stores stay relevant in the digital age. It boosts trade-in values for recent games days after they launch, so the latest titles are usually in-stock.

If you're someone who likes to play a lot of games and lives near a GameStop, however, it sounds like a pretty good deal. It doesn't matter how new or old that game is.

So, effectively, for the price of a brand new game, you can (theoretically) play through multiple games and add one to your library permanently. That's the store's loyalty program. Mashable reports that despite other reports, PowerPass membership does not require a separate Power-Up Rewards subscription, which would otherwise be an additional cost on top. It's the upgraded loyalty program that earns you bonus points and a subscription to Game Informer magazine.

This is an interesting move from GameStop, as it emulates rental services like GameFly.
