Astros' Yuli Gurriel makes racist gesture after hitting World Series home run

Not Giving Yu Up! Fans Still Hopeful As Dodgers Trail 2-1

Gurriel has reportedly been suspended without pay for the first 5 games of the 2018 regular season for his racist gesture.

Houston Astros player Yuli Gurriel will face a five-game suspension from Major League Baseball after making a racist gesture during the third game of the World Series on Friday night - but he will not have to serve the suspension until next season.

Gurriel made the mocking gesture after hitting a second inning homerun off of Darvish.

Gurriel was seated in the dugout when he appeared to make a "slant eyes" gesture.

"But I was in Japan and I know that it's offensive, and honestly, I apologize to [Darvish]". Without talking to him, I'm sure Darvish was a lot more bothered by Houston hitters, including Gurriel, lighting him up than he was by any puerile gestures Gurriel might have made after going yard at Yu's expense. "Secondly, I felt it was unfair to punish the other 24 players on the Astros' roster. I was commenting to my [teammates] that I hadn't had any good luck against Japanese pitchers here in the U.S".

Darvish was widely reported to have called Gurriel's actions "disrespectful". Darvish is not Chinese; he was born in Japan to a Japanese mother and Iranian father.

"The Houston Astros were surprised and disappointed by the behavior displayed by Yuli Gurriel during last night's game".

Outcome of coffin assault case shows racism won't be tolerated
Oosthuizen was handed 11 years for his role as an accessory to the crime whiles Jackson bagged 14 years as the main culprit. The two said they had caught Mlotshwa trespassing on their farm in possession of stolen copper cables.

Gurriel said it's common in Cuba to use the word "chinito" to describe someone of Asian heritage, although he admitted he realizes it's considered offensive in Japan.

In announcing the suspension, the commissioner offered four reasons why Gurriel would not be forced to miss any time for the remainder of the World Series.

After the game, Gurriel answered for his actions through an interpreter. "That includes both you and I", Darvish's statement said.

Major League Baseball suspended two players this season for using slurs. He was sent to the Dodgers at this year's July 31 trade deadline. "On the contrary, he's always been one of the best pitchers. I didn't try to offend anybody".

"Yes, of course. I want to talk to him because I have nothing against him", he said. Matt Joyce of the Oakland Athletics and Kevin Pillar of the Toronto Blue Jays each were suspended two games this season for using anti-gay slurs. "Just learn from it and we have to move forward".

Darvish responded as well, taking to Twitter to ask everyone to focus on moving forward from the incident.
