Freed US-Canadian family reportedly leaves Pakistan

Pak Army recovers five Western hostages

Reading from a statement upon arrival in Toronto late on October 13, Boyle said, "The stupidity and the evil of the Haqqani network in the kidnapping of a pilgrim.was eclipsed only by the stupidity and evil of authorizing the murder of my infant daughter".

Mr Boyle said his wife was raped by a guard who was assisted by his superiors. Friends and neighbors describe Coleman as focused on helping the poor even as a child, when she went door-to-door to raise money for impoverished people in Haiti, and as a budding entrepreneur who made chocolates and sold them to neighbors.

The birth of the fourth child had not been publicly known before the family arrived in Canada.

The Taliban in a statement on Sunday denied Boyle's claims.

A Canadian man held hostage in Afghanistan has said his captors murdered his infant daughter and raped his wife. Boyle said after landing at Toronto's airport that the extremists killed their newborn daughter and raped his wife during the years they were held.

The mood was decidedly different Thursday inside the Coleman home, where in the afternoon a typed notice appeared on the front door saying the family appreciated the "concern being expressed at the joyful news that Caity, Josh and our grandchildren have been released after five long years of captivity".

Speculation abounded Thursday after media reports said Boyle had refused to board a United States transport plane that American officials had arranged for the family.

Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Nafees Zakaria said the Pakistani special forces that rescued the family on October 11 acted on a tip from US intelligence, showing that Islamabad will act against a "common enemy" when Washington shares information. The couple's three children were all born in captivity.

American Taliban hostage Caitlan Coleman's father dragged her Canadian husband Joshua Boyle for his "unconscionable" decision to take his pregnant wife to Kabul, Afghanistan, in 2012.

US officials have long accused Pakistan of ignoring groups like the Haqqani network. Coleman was pregnant at the time.

Pakistani commandos intercepted a auto the family was in when the kidnappers were taking their hostages across the border from Afghanistan.

The operation appeared to have unfolded quickly and ended with what some described as a unsafe raid, a shootout and a captor's final, terrifying threat to "kill the hostage".

A Pakistani channel broadcasts a report about western couple, seen at a local electronic shop in Islamabad, Pakistan, Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017.

Coleman and her husband had been held for five years and one day, according to the US official. It's unclear whether they knew she'd had a third. He adds the family is fit to travel, but it's undecided whether they will fly to Canada or to the US from there.

An Associated Press reporter on the flight was given a handwritten statement by Boyle which read, "God has given me and my family unparalleled resilience and determination, and to allow that to stagnate, to pursue personal pleasure or comfort while there is still deliberate and organized injustice in the world would be a betrayal of all I believe, and tantamount to sacrilege".

The AP reported in June 2014 about the existence of videos received by Coleman's father in which the couple - Coleman, in a conservative black garment and Boyle with a long, untrimmed beard - implored the US government to help free them.

Boyle said one of his children is suffering from health issues and needed to be force-fed by rescuers.
