Mobile kills unlimited data usage when traveling to Canada and Mexico
It's not shocking that T-Mobile would do this.
This meant that using your phone or making a call in Canada, Mexico, and the USA would be "just like going out of state", T-Mobile CEO John Legere said at the time.
'Mobile Without Borders' is a service launched two years back in 2015.
T-Mobile explains they're making this change "In order to prevent usage beyond the intent of the product", adding "Less than 1% of people with this benefit travel to Mexico and Canada use over 5GB a month". Starting on 12 November, the LTE speed will drop to 256Kbps for Oneplus users and 128Kbps for other users after the daily limit has been reached. One of them, however - free unlimited LTE data for travelers to Canada and Mexico - is getting eliminated and replaced with a capped LTE allowance.
Also, you may have less data to play with if you aren't subscribed to an unlimited plan.

Looking at the general scheme of things, this limitation will affect heavier users, but if you go on a vacation for just a few days, you should be fine with the 5GB data allowance. The company T-Mobile unveiled that from November 12, it will bind the unlimited LTE data to 5 GB monthly at the time of traveling to USA neighbors.
It's not entirely clear what "beyond the intent of the product" means, but it's clear T-Mobile is cracking down on a specific type of customer. Either way, T-Mobile says that less than 1 percent of users who travel to either country use over 5GB in a month.
T-Mobile has put the brakes on their popular North America voice and data plan, which offered American customers unlimited LTE roaming in Canada and Mexico.
