Russian Federation in $3-bn missile defence deal with Saudi Arabia

Saudi king to make historic visit to Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin met Saudi Arabian King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at the Kremlin on Thursday, with issues such as oil, arms and conflicts such as Syria on the agenda.

More recently, tensions were high over the war in Syria, in which Russian Federation has staunchly backed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad while Saudi Arabia has supported his foes.

Saudi Aramco is also expected to sign a number of memoranda of understandings with major Russian companies.

The King concluded his speech by officially inviting the Russian president to visit the Kingdom and to continue consultations towards the issues of common interest and enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Along with S-400 anti-aircraft missiles, Saudi Arabia is also set to buy Kornet anti-tank guided missile systems and multiple rocket launchers. Saudi Arabia had previously been opposed to the plan because it involves Iran.

Peskov who revealed that Russian state-funded RT television network and Sputnik news agency had come under "unprecedented pressure" in the U.S stated that Moscow could respond quid pro quo should such restrictions be carried out again.

She said in a statement released by her lawyer that she feared that might be his way of breaking up with her, but nothing more. He said Paddock lived a "secret life" and 'meticulously planned on the worst domestic attack in United States history'.

In opening remarks broadcast on Russian television, the Saudi monarch said a political solution to the conflict in Syria must be found that keeps that country in one piece.

The agreement, implemented in January, is created to bring the global level of crude oil inventories closer to the five-year average. "But in general, speaking about a potential extension, it should last at least to the end of 2018". It was subsequently extended through March 2018. Oil rose after Mr Putin's statement.

Cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Russian Federation has "breathed life back into OPEC" and made the country more optimistic about the outlook for oil than it has been for several years, said the kingdom's energy minister.

King Salman's visit coincides with a Russia-Saudi investment forum in Moscow in which more than 200 firms are taking part.

The visit by the Saudi king - and his 1,000-strong delegation - is seen as an expression of that revived power, she says.

The Kremlin talks were attended by Ramzan Kadyrov, the strongman leader of Chechnya, a mainly Muslim republic in Russia's south. He recently hosted Ahmed Maiteeq, the deputy Libyan prime minister in Grozny, the Chechen capital.
