US Senate Intelligence Panel Leaders to Release Interim Report on Russia Probe

How did Russia know to exploit race on FB

Some of the Russian-bought Facebook ads specifically targeted swing states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida, as well as other states whose Electoral College votes were not truly contested during the election, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.

But content of the 3,000 Facebook adverts linked to Russian Federation will not be publicly released. The intent of the press conference was to give an update on the committee's investigation.

Burr said interviews have included "everybody who had a hand or a voice into the creation of the intelligence community assessment" released in January that found Russian Federation did conduct a campaign influence operation with the aspiration of helping Donald Trump.

The GOP chairman said the committee has interviewed "every official of the Obama administration to fully understand what they saw, the clarity and transparency they had into Russian Federation involvement and, more importantly, what they did or did not do and what drove those actions".

The Senate panel has also been focused on Russian efforts to push out social media messages on Twitter and Facebook, and is examining more than 3,000 Russia-linked ads that Facebook turned over to Congress this week. "And I assume that the same tactics that you saw in Montenegro, in France, in Belgium and in the United States will continue to be tested within our structure of the election process", Burr said.

Burr said the "general consensus" of those involved with the Russian investigation, they "trust the conclusions" of the Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA). "In many cases, [the Russians] didn't even take advantage of the most technical targeting tools that exist within those social media companies, so I would defer answering your question until we've completed the investigation".

Palace confirms Trump's visit to PH for Asean summit in November
According to Abella, the Philippines is hoping to host a productive event and make it pleasant to the foreign leaders. He has warned North Korea would face total devastation if it threatens the United States at the recently held UNGA.

"I fear if you add up all those things it was a decent rate of return", Warner said.

"Collusion, the committee continues to look into all evidence to see if there was any hint of collusion", said Burr.

Whether aides to President Donald Trump's presidential campaign collaborated in a Russian campaign to steal and leak documents damaging to his opponents has emerged as a central question to Federal Bureau of Investigation and congressional investigators, an idea that Trump has dismissed as a hoax. He also noted that their inquiry had "expanded slightly" beyond its original intent. Burr and Warner said the government must be proactive ahead of next year's midterm elections.

Burr and Warner warned that Russian sources are continuing to try to influence elections, not just in the US but in other countries like France where recent national votes have been held.

CNN reported earlier this year that US intelligence officials collaborated some aspects of Christopher Steele's findings though not some of the more salacious allegations like the link between Trump and Russian prostitutes. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) to require greater disclosure of the sources of digital political ads.

Warner is working on legislation with Sen. He said that the requirements would be the "lightest touch possible, and similar to rules the rest of the media already have".
