Marilou Danley not involved in Las Vegas shooting

Police say female companion of shooter still person of interest

Authorities are still investigating the possible motivation behind what is now the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

Investigators have found no evidence that Paddock, 64, had even incidental contacts with foreign or domestic extremist groups, and reviews of his history show no underlying pattern of law breaking or hate speech, a senior United States homeland security official said on Tuesday.

The girlfriend of the gunman who killed 59 people on the Las Vegas Strip is being questioned by police after returning to the USA from the Philippines.

A receptionist at the office of Los Angeles-based criminal defense attorney Matthew Lombard confirmed he was representing Danley but would not comment further.

Authorities had initially said she likely wasn't involved in the shooting.

Adding more intrigue to the case is the news, confirmed to CNN by a U.S. law enforcement source, that Paddock recently wired $100,000 to the Philippines.

First, the recent loss of Senator Luther Strange nearly certainly opens the door for anti-establishment primary challenges. Asked if he will work with McConnell, Moore says he'll work with anyone that "stands for a conservative agenda".

After first appearing to dismiss the possibility of her involvement in any way, officials have now made it clear that she remains part of the investigation, especially after the discovery of weapons, ammunition and explosives at the home she shared with Paddock in Mesquite.

Police are not aware whether the devices were transmitting - the FBI is investigating their use - but the Clark County sheriff told reporters he thinks the shooter might have used them to watch for people approaching his room. Prior to the attack, Lombardo wired thousands of dollars to the Philippines.

Investigators say there were more than 40 guns recovered; both in Paddock's Nevada home and his Mandalay Bay hotel room and material used to make explosives were also discovered in his vehicle.

Ms Danley had been out of the country for weeks before the shooting, but had been named as "a person of interest". "We are going to let her contact us if and when she decides she wants to". It's unclear when the couple met.

"I know she has to be devastated about what has happened", Dionne Waltrip said, adding that the family, which now lives in Arkansas, has been receiving death threats after her father was erroneously identified online as the shooter.

The retired accountant quietly stockpiled an arsenal of high-powered weapons while pursuing a passion for high-stakes gambling at Nevada casinos, where his game of choice was video poker, a relatively solitary pursuit, with no dealer and no humans to play against. Danley posted photos to Facebook from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino three years ago. Who is Stephen Paddock?
