Michelle Williams in negotiations to join Venom

Michelle Williams Venom

This includes Venom and other Spider-Man-related characters like Silver Sable and Black Cat.

Sony had planned to release a "Sinister Six" movie featuring Venom but made the decision to start off with a Venom adventure. After toying with the idea of kicking off a cinematic universe with The Sinister Six, Sony turned to Venom instead and booked genre stalwart Tom Hardy in the lead role.

Sony continues with casting on the Venom movie by casting Michelle Williams. Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland") is directing the spinoff, which is set to begin production next month.

The larger shared Spider-Man universe is back on at Sony Pictures.

That would pit an Oscar-nominated actress against an Oscar-nominated actor in a superhero movie meant to launch a Sony-centric Marvel universe without their mainstay hero, Spider-Man, showing up at all.

Trump plans to slash U.S. refugee admissions
Whatever figure Trump decides on will be significantly lower than the number of refugees the Obama administration admitted in. Across the world there were 22.5 million refugees past year , according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

We are yet to see whether Michelle Williams teams up with Tom Hardy! There are conflicting reports as to who he would be playing, though.

Set to be directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad), the Venom movie has Pain & Gain and Jumanji writer Scott Rosenberg and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 writer Jeff Pinkner now working on a script, with Hardy serving as both star and producer of the film.

Scott Rosenberg ('Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, ' "Gone in Sixty Seconds") and Jeff Pinkner ('The Dark Tower, ' "The Amazing Spider-Man 2") are providing the script, with Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal producing.

Fingers crossed they take the best of Topher Grace's Venom from Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 3" and none of the emo-Tobey Maguire Venom.

"Venom" is set to hit the Hollywood screens on October 5, 2018.
