GoPro has been hinting it planned to release a consumer-level 360-degree camera for a while, and today showed off the Fusion.
Teased since CES in 2016, the Fusion builds upon the success of their existing cameras and has a few minor changes from the existing 360 camera lineup on the market.
You can also capture 18-megapixel spherical photos and create time-lapse videos.
The new Fusion virtual reality camera has two lenses: one on the front and another on the back; it captures immersive, 5.2K spherical video and 18MP spherical photos. As before, the camera is waterproof to 33 feet and features both Global Positioning System and a two-inch LCD touchscreen.
The most notable updates in the Hero6 are UHD 4K 2160/60p video, up from 30p, and 240fps fps capture in HD, up from 120fps. The feature will also allow you to make it look like a pro videographer is traveling behind/around the subject when used as a stationary camera.
With two wide angle lenses, one of either side of the device that record video at the same time, the GoPro Fusion creates a sphere of video: flawless to watch in VR. During the announcement GoPro had a skater roll past the Fusion, then edit the shot to just follow behind where they were traveling.
Angel View on the other hand is designed for even cleaner action shots.
GoPro's shares had rallied 34 per cent since the start of the year through Thursday's close, suggesting investors believe cost cuts and updated products have stabilised the San Mateo, California-based company. While most VR cameras include some odd spots of a tripod or extension pole, Angel View is created to hide the included grip.
The Fusion can be pre-ordered now and will ship in November, while the software update enabling Overcapture, Angle View and other features will arrive early next year. It will also include the Fusion Grip, which is a tripod/selfie stick.

The specs for the 6 confirm what has already been leaked: It has the same form factor as the Hero 5, but shoots 4K video at 60 frames-per-second, which improves how smooth your footage looks.
Also announced today, the Hero 6 is GoPro's first camera to use the company's own processor, called the GP1.
