Russian Federation at United Nations slams 'military hysteria' over N. Korea

Moon heads to UN meeting as NK nukes loom over world

Russian Federation is "extremely concerned" by U.S. President Donald Trump's comments questioning the Iran nuclear deal and suspects that Washington itself may have violated a landmark arms control treaty, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

Wang said that the situation of North Korea is of utmost importance and is of common concern among the United Nations member countries.

At a news conference Friday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov once again hit back on claims his country meddled in the 2016 U.S. election, saying his American counterpart failed to offer any proof of interference.

He even raised concern over the Palestinian issue and said that the latter deserve just treatment and illegal settlements must be stopped.

He urged the five countries to push all sides to follow the basic principles of the UN Charter, such as equal sovereignty, non-interference in domestic affairs and peaceful settlement of disputes, and to constantly enhance the UN Security Council's primary obligations in maintaining global peace and security.

Relations are at "a very hard and a very low point, which is the legacy of the Obama administration", Lavrov said, but what Trump had said during the election campaign, and what he continues to say now, is that he wants to have good relations with Moscow.

Feds tell state officials Russians tried to hack elections
No breach occurred, Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon said in a news release. Trump won the election and calls the Russian Federation story a hoax.

The Chinese minister noted that during the "Six Party" talks between South Korea, China, the US, Russia, North Korea and Japan in 2005, the "US undertook to normalize relations with DPRK".

The deputy foreign minister added the "main task is to find a political and diplomatic solution", and once again suggested Beijing's "suspension for suspension" approach. It was a theme that Lavrov struck as well, presenting Russian Federation, which invaded and annexed Crimea in 2014, as a force for balance, stability and peace on the world stage.

"It is not only Russian Federation that has said it is necessary to save the JCPOA".

The foreign minister spoke to the UN General Assembly two days after US President Donald Trump threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea if it launches attacks on his country or its allies. "We call upon the USA to honor its former commitment and we call on all parties to play a constructive role in easing tensions", said Wang, who added that, "negotiation is the only way out". "Unfortunately, the arsenal of many Western states have not diplomacy but rough pressure", he said, expanding into criticism of the USA policy toward Iran and Trump's hints that he will leave the multilateral Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action that constrains Tehran's nuclear program in return for sanctions relief.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reaffirmed Russia's commitment to maintaining the sustainability of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program, TASS reported.

In his address to the UN, Trump referred to sanctions the USA has levied on the Latin American country and said he was "prepared to take further action". "The dialogue has been going on, it's not easy", Lavrov said. The attempts to ignore the opinions of others and to issue ultimatums without the United Nations approval "never led to anything good", he added.
