President Trump's Strange Endorsement

Sen. Luther Strange debates against U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore on Thursday Sept. 21 2017 in Montgomery Ala

President Trump speaks at a rally in support of GOP Senate candidate Luther Strange at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Ala., on September 22, 2017. Since then, he's won the endorsement of Rep. Mo Brooks, the third-place finisher, whose strength in his northern Alabama district makes places like Huntsville, where Trump will visit Friday and Vice President Mike Pence has planned a stop Monday, a battleground.

John Pudner, an GOP strategist who chairs the Alabama-based right-wing action group Take Back Our Republic, said unusual fits the state's political tilt.

In a freewheeling speech punctuated by chanting from the crowd, Trump said he appreciated Strange's support during the push to overhaul President Barack Obama's health care law, and he said unusual would better advance the Trump agenda. "Vote for your victory", President Trump said.

Trump said unusual had wrongly been branded an establishment insider, saying people have unfairly claimed odd is "friendly with Mitch [McConnell]", the Senate majority leader.

The race has, for the first time, pitted Trump against his former chief strategist Steve Bannon, who has urged conservatives to support Moore and used, where he is an executive, to bash odd.

Moore tweeted his appreciation for Carson's support.

If Moore defeats Strange, Trump said he would "campaign like hell for him", but predicted "the fake news" media would make a Strange loss all about Trump's failure "to pull his candidate across the line".

Armstrong Williams, a Carson confidant, told the Washington Examiner that the statement was not a formal endorsement, but added that Carson and Moore are longtime friends, and that Carson "does not abandon his friends".

Many were outright Moore supporters, and had simply come to the event to see Trump, whom they largely still support enthusiastically.

Pep Guardiola Hopeful Ilkay Gundogan Injury Not Serious
CITY midfielder Ilkay Gundogan picked up ANOTHER injury - on his first start since returning from a lengthy lay-off. Unfortunately, the action [tackle] was tough. "He will be back soon hopefully", Guardiola said.

"To me, winning the popular vote is easier, because you go to NY, you go to California, you go to Texas".

Trump blasted McCain at the Friday night rally, calling the Arizona Republican's choice to oppose the latest GOP effort to repeal Obamacare "honestly terrible" at a rally in Alabama.

President Trump's support comes a day after odd and Judge Roy Moore faced off at a debate Thursday night in Montgomery. In addition, he has also received the strong support of grassroots second amendment groups such as the National Association for Gun Rights and the Gun Owners of America.

One of those was Laura Skipper.

Asked about the case, Moore told the AP his opinion supporting the court decision was based on state laws against sodomy and gay marriage. Now I would love to see Roy on the federal bench. However, Trump confidently said "I'm going to handle it".

An exclusive Raycom News Network-Strategy Research Poll found Moore maintaining a 6 point lead over odd in the final week of campaigning.

And Trump tried to give odd cover from the attacks he's gotten over the $9 million a superPAC aligned with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has spent in the race.

Both have emphasized their support for Trump, who remains popular in the deep red state. The former state attorney general was handed the seat after former senator Jeff Sessions was appointed attorney general by Trump. Some recent polls had shown Moore leading, though the contest was getting more competitive.

Republican leaders fear that candidates who are too far to the right could lose to Democrats, who are seeking to wrest control of the House and the Senate in the 2018 midterm elections. Since then, McConnell has been determined not to let it happen again - and has succeeded in every instance.
