Ryanair cancelled flights - Michael O'Leary ADMITS 'this is our mess'

Ryanair

The situation is quickly turning into a public relations disaster, with the beleaguered airline under pressure to publish a full list of the flights it plans to cancel.

Fianna Fáil's Transport Spokesperson Robert Troy is calling on the airline to provide clarity to all customers that could be affected by the disruption to services.

"Or the sensible thing; take out 50 flights a day for six weeks during this crewing issue and create standby pilots and aircraft to bring punctuality back up to 90 per cent".

It said the number of cancellations will equate to less than 2 percent of its daily schedule of 2,500 flights and has provided an updated list on its website up to this Wednesday (20 September).

Deputy Troy says customers need to know where they stand.

Mr O'Leary, the airline's chief executive, told a press conference: "Clearly there's a large reputational impact, for which again I apologise".

He said the problems were not the result of pilots quitting but was "because we're giving pilots lots of holidays over the next four months".

For passengers affected, they can either fly on another flight or get a refund, as well as claim for compensation.

Kentucky Wildcats vs. South Carolina Gamecocks Preview and Prediction
That, Stoops said, fired up his players not to let this one go. "We're not going to have excuses in this organization". SC has lost four straight to Kentucky and will face Texas A&M and Tennessee in road contests in the next four weeks.

According to Ryanair, customers who have bought seats on cancelled flights will be offered alternatives or given a full refund.

The airline has outlined the affected flights, but only up until this Wednesday.

When you visit Ryanair's cancellations web page (listed above), if your flight is affected you'll be given the option to try and change your flight or apply for a refund.

He said: "What we have messed up is the allocation of holidays and trying to over-allocate holiday during September and October while we're still running most of the summer schedule, and taking flight delays because of principally air traffic control and weather disruptions".

Consumer rights group Which? called on Ryanair to give passengers more notice.

It cancelled 82 flights set for Friday and a further 80 scheduled for Saturday.

According to European Union law, the company has an obligation to reroute you to your destination at "the earliest opportunity", however, exactly how long "earliest" means is yet to be tested, so you may not be able to get a flight with another airline and charge Ryanair for the fare.
