Terror probe after knife attacker targets soldier in Paris

That attack came just four days after Sentinelle soldiers arrested an 18-year-old with a history of psychological problems at the Eiffel Tower, after he had allegedly brandished a knife and shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is Greatest). The attacker approached the soldier from behind and threatened him with a knife while shouting slogans about the Islamic State terror group, reported French broadcaster BFMTV.

The soldier was a part of the country's Sentinelle group, a military operation set up to protect Paris in the aftermath of terror attacks that have left hundreds dead in recent years.

An armed attacker was arrested. In January 2015, Islamist gunmen had stormed into the offices of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, killing 12 journalists. The man was quickly neutralized by the soldier.
