Brewers Ace Jimmy Nelson Out For Remainder of Season

Milwaukee Brewers' Travis Shaw celebrates in the dugout with Orlando Arcia after hitting a two-run home run off Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Ariel Hernandez during the eighth inning of a baseball game Tuesday Sept. 5 2017 in Cincinnati

Jimmy Nelson's strained rotator cuff and partially torn labrum in his right shoulder could be the difference between a postseason appearance and trying again next year.

"When we're in chasing position, we have less room for error", Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Friday.

Nelson was the winning pitcher, and his 2017 season comes to an end with the pitcher having won each of his last three starts.

Nelson left Friday night's 2-0 victory over the Cubs after the injury.

Nelson threw four-hit ball over five innings.

Xbox One Will Soon Support Keyboard and Mouse
Xbox One X is releasing soon and with it a lot of Xbox One's games will get visually enhanced to match the console's features. A lot of people tweet me and say 'you can't do this because of fairness, ' and we understand that.

The loss marks the sixth time that the Brewers have beaten the Cubs by 10 or more runs in a game.

Braun is batting.336 in his career against Chicago and his two-run blast helped Milwaukee stay three games behind Colorado for the NL's second wild-card spot.

Nelson was enjoying the best season of his career; he's 12-6 on the season with a 3.49 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 199 strikeouts in 175.1 innings pitched. If the Brewers are to overcome that deficit and make their first postseason appearance since 2011, they'll have to do it behind a rotation led by 16-game victor winner Zach Davies, veteran Matt Garza and breakout pitcher Chase Anderson.

Every win is going to count down the stretch, especially as the Brewers attempt to make up ground, and getting the most out of their roster is one way to ensure success. At times this season, he was productive. As the Brewers have shown all year though, baseball isn't always driven by talent.
