Utah cop arrests nurse for refusing access to patient for blood draw

According to the Salt Lake City Tribune, the Salt Lake City police department is now conducting an internal investigation into the incident, though Payne has only been suspended from their blood-draw program and is currently still on the police department staff.

Wubbels refused because based on the policy, the hospital can not draw blood unless police have a warrant, the patient is under arrest, or the patient gives consent.

Alex Wubbels reported that she could not take the sample without the patient's consent and police officer Jeff Payne failed to understand her reasoning.

Wubbels said that blood is a patient's property.

The video then goes on to show Detective Payne saying "we're done, you're under arrest" before pushing Ms Wubbels outside as she screamed.

Wubbels and her attorney made a decision to release footage of the arrest now because after meeting with the city and with police they believed it was necessary to prevent another incident.

The video of the fracas in University of Utah Medical Centre in Salt Lake City has triggered public outrage, with prosecutors calling for a criminal investigation, and Detective Payne and a second policeman being put on paid leave.

Police in Rigby, Idaho, said Friday that Gray is a reserve officer for their force, and commended Wubbels for "protecting Officer Gray's rights as a patient and victim".

Union Fights Dallas Cowboys Star's Suspension in Court
The NFLPA said in the filing that any suspension would be "inflicting instantaneous and irreparable harm " on Elliott. The restraining order comes on the heels of the testimony of Kia Wright Roberts, the NFL's director of investigations.

After confirming the mandate with hospital officials and providing documented proof of the policy to the officer, Wubbel declared "I'm just trying to do what I'm supposed to do".

A man fleeing police crashed head-on into a truck driver and was instantly killed.

She also said she was looking forward to working with them to promote civil dialogue and education.

"We can not allow an incident like this divide our community or taint the good work of SLCPD", said Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski. I've done nothing wrong!

"This was not peaceful", Wubbels said.

Karra Porter, Wubbels' lawyer, said at the news conference that the nurse followed the law and the police were wrong.

The nurse says officers did not have a warrant or meet any of the mandatory criteria needed for the taking blood. She explains that she's doing what her bosses told her and even read from the hospital policy for blood draws.
