Man charged with murder of Temple student from Montgomery County

Temple Student Jenna Burleigh Missing

Philadelphia police say the body of a missing Temple University student has been found and a man will be charged in her death.

Police said Joshua Hupperterz was arrested Saturday at his grandmother's house, 140 miles north of Philadelphia, Philly.com reported.

The investigation is still in the early phases, but authorities say Joshua Hupperterz is in custody and has confessed to "elements of the crime". The 22-year-old student who was majoring in film and arts had transferred to temple this week.

He said crime scenes were processed at Hupperterz's North Philadelphia apartment at 1708 N. 16th St. and a home in Jenkintown, which reportedly belongs to Hupperterz's mother and stepfather.

Police said Mr Hupperterz had "prior contact" with law enforcement but would not elaborate.

Police said the investigation is still in its early phases and they are expecting to release more details.

Police think Burleigh was killed in an apartment near the bar, and her body was taken to Jenkintown before being taken to a lakefront home in Wayne County belonging to Hupperterz' grandmother.

Still, unless we hear conflicting reports from some other source, we should maybe consider this transfer on the shelf for now. Maybe the loan terms couldn't be worked out, or maybe there was some sticking point in the deal that couldn't be reconciled.

Family member Ed Burleigh said Saturday on Facebook "Our Beautiful Angel Jenna is now in Heaven".

Police search a property in Jenkinton.

Police said the killing did not seem to be premeditated.

According to Mr. Burleigh, Jenna commutes to Temple University for classes, and that on Wednesday, Thursday, August 31, 2017, he met his daughter for dinner and she informed him that she was going out with a group of friends that night, and was going to stay overnight with one of her friends.

"There are things we can not discuss right now, but there are also things we just don't know", he said.

Jenna Burleigh was reported missing Friday after disappearing from a popular bar near the Temple campus early Thursday.

Temple University issued a statement "Our deepest sympathies go out to Jenna's family and her classmates, both here at temple and at Montgomery County Community college".
