Surrey vs Middlesex suspended after metal-tipped arrow is fired onto the playing surface

The statement read: "Police were made aware at 1635hrs on Thursday, 31 August to reports of an arrow/crossbow bolt having been loosed into the Oval Cricket ground".

Play was suspended in the County Championship clash between Surrey and Middlesex after a "projectile" was sacked into the ground, according to the competition's official Twitter feed. At this early stage it is believed that the object came from outside the ground.

Fans were urged to move themselves to cover as police arrived. Surrey vice-captain Rory Burns, stationed at orthodox midwicket, was the closest player to the bolt when it landed.

A "metal tipped" arrow was sacked onto the field of play during a professional English cricket game in London, British police said Thursday.

Surrey team member Ollie Pope and few others informed the umpire and soon the players were ordered to step off the field.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: "Officers are on scene".

All of the details of the 2017 Victoria's Secret Show
In a post on Instagram on Monday, Hadid announced she will be making an appearance at the Victoria's Secret 2017 show. Last year's musical lineup included Lady Gaga , Bruno Mars and The Weeknd .

Cricket fan David Schofield said he was told by three armed officers that it is believed two arrows were fired into the grounds.

"There are no reported injuries".

The game itself was hardly eventful and was heading towards a draw with Middlesex stretching their second-innings lead past 180. The umpires, who were alerted of this foreign object by the players, quickly ushered them back to the dressing rooms. If it is more than mischief-making then we need to find the perpetrators. The ground is being evacuated.

"Living and working in central London, the threat is always with us".

Surrey County County Cricket Club chief executive Richard Gould told Sky News: "We don't know if were deliberately targeted or whether someone has been irresponsibly firing this sort of thing outside the ground".
