Ball family releases preview of Facebook reality show

Facebook readies Bunim/Murray's “Ball in the Family”

Outside of taking a couple shots at Michael Jordan and taking part in a shooting contest with Ice Cube at a Big3 event, the Ball family patriarch has more or less stayed out of the spotlight.

LaVar Ball, the loquacious alpha dad of three basketball prodigies, sets his expectations high when it comes to his sons.

"Family is everything to me", LaVar said in the preview.

In the unscripted comedy series Mom's Movie Review, host Emmanuelle and his mother Mamá Rosa will watch and review blockbuster films in an attempt to uncover what Latina moms know about movies and what they mean to them.

The first two episodes of the show will air on August 31 on Facebook Watch. "And who better to help us tell our story than Bunim/Murray Productions". His official Facebook page has 112,000 followers.

According to TMZ Sports, Tina suffered a stroke in February, and the reality show will document her recovery, which includes LaVar working with her in their Chino Hills, California, home.

Among them, in addition to "Ball in the Family", are "Returning the Favor" featuring Mike Rowe of "Dirty Jobs" fame; "It's Cool, But Does It Really Work?" a show that tests new inventions; and "The Great Cheese Hunt", which showcases cheeses from around the world.

With Nielsen, "you don't have a sense of who's watching the show", said Julie Pizzi, BMP's co-president of entertainment and development. But the company has paid for only a handful of the several hundred shows initially in Facebook Watch, and execs say the seed-funding strategy is simply an effort to jump-start an open ecosystem of long-form video content on the platform.
