City make sensational Raheem Sterling offer as makeweight for Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez

Manchester City are preparing to offer Raheem Sterling in a player-plus-cash deal for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, sources close to the England global have told ESPN FC.

At least they still have the young-up-and-comer Theo Walcott to fill his boots if/when Sanchez leaves.

The potential swap is just absolutely ludicrous, and it's a ridiculous thought that Manchester City would be willing to part with Sterling.

The Daily Mirror reports that in order to get the deal done before tomorrow night's 11pm deadline, the Manchester club could even send their own medical staff to Chile where Sanchez now is on global duty.

Has Alexis Sanchez played his last match for Arsenal?

Death toll from Barcelona terror attack rises to 16
Emergency workers , taxis drivers, police and ordinary citizens who helped immediately after the attack led the march. A further two suspects are now in prison facing charges of terrorism , while two other suspects were released.

Gunners boss Arsene has always maintained that Sanchez is not for sale, even with one year left on his current contract.

England forward Sterling, 22, has featured in all three of City's games so far this season.

Arsenal supporters' rage at the club would be amplified even more if they chose to sell star man Alexis Sanchez to a rival before Thursday's transfer deadline.

However, any deal could leave Raheem Sterling's future at City in doubt. Chilean Sanchez has so far refused to sign a new deal and after a poor display against Leicester, despite victory, and a shock loss to Stoke, Wenger made a decision to rush him back for the clash at Anfield.

Arsenal have suffered a poor start to the season, with an unconvincing opening day win over Leicester City followed by a 1-0 loss to Stoke and a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool on Sunday.
