Astros fans start petition to force Rangers to remove Texas flag

The Astros flew from Orange County to Dallas on Sunday night after they concluded their series finale against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim.

Astros pitcher Lance McCullers harshly criticized the Rangers on Monday after Astros president Reid Ryan revealed that Texas was less than accommodating in rescheduling this week's series in Houston. "The Rangers wanted us to play the next three days at their place, but they did not want to trade series with us". The series starts Tuesday, and players, who had gathered Monday in Dallas awaiting news of the game's venue, will head to the domed stadium in St. Petersburg, Fla., home of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Ryan said the Rangers didn't want to give up the September dates - which would have come at the end of a nine-game road trip _ but were open to shifting the series to Arlington this week.

While there is no official announcement yet, Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi are both reporting that, because of Harvey and the fallout from the storm, the Astros-Rangers series could shift to neutral Tropicana Field, home of the Rays. Ryan wanted the Rangers to host the Astros for the series starting Tuesday in exchange for Houston getting the September 25 series scheduled to be in Arlington. "That's an inaccurate portrayal".

Thousands of Flights Canceled as Tropical Storm Harvey Batters Texas
He said that as of Monday morning, 20 flights from Texas to LAX were cancelled, as were 18 flights from LAX to Texas. More problems were likely for the airports on Monday as flight schedules remained uneven across airports in Texas.

The Rangers play 81 games at home, and by late September, they'll be eliminated from playoff contention in the American League. But MLB announced that it has not yet determined a location for the Mets-Astros series.

Daniels said the Rangers were trying not to become a distraction. "They rejected that and didn't want to do that". "We were willing to play this series anywhere the Astros and Major League Baseball wanted, including here in Arlington".

"The bigger issue, really the only issue, is what's going on in South Texas right now", he said. "We don't want to distract from that debating about where a baseball game is played".
