Here's Microsoft's take on Surface Reliability reports by Consumer Reports

Consumer Reports says 25 percent of Microsoft Surface computers will break within two years

It would seem that the initial high return rates for the Surface Book and Pro 4 had a major impact in this CR subscriber survey, with Microsoft hinting that this has unfairly skewed the results and misrepresents the reliability of Surface devices today.

Microsoft has responded to criticism of its Surface products after US-based consumer group Consumer Reports criticised their reliability. Seen by Paul Thurrott, the document not only specifies that Microsoft experienced "some quality issues" with both the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4, but gives a chart of return rates.

In the meantime, if you are shopping for a student right now, you may be interested in knowing that Apple's MacBooks and iPads came out on top in Consumer Reports' survey. Surface Pro 4 return rates also reached around 16 percent during launch, but dropped below 10 percent after just over a month.

It's also claimed that Microsoft's ineptitude when it comes to drivers is the reason why more ambitious hardware products have been delayed, and why the company still has not embraced USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports on its devices - even on the newly launched Surface Laptop.

According to Thurrott, Microsoft had tried to blame its hardware problems on Intel.

Coutinho "has lost the trust of Klopp" after submitting transfer request
That's how life is. "I said he's not that type of player - but I don't know what that means when you say that". With all the talk surrounding the future of Coutinho, it was his Brazil team-mate who stirred Liverpool here.

Worse still, it later emerged that its earlier update package had included a problematic driver, which had caused Windows Hello functionality to break on Surface Pro 4 tablets.

Some unknown number of Surface users have encountered a variety of power problems, tablet-undocking, battery-life limitations and other issues with their devices since Microsoft began shipping the first Surface RT tablets in 2012. "Lenovo was confused", claims Thurrott.

The patent titled, 'Cover of Device Acting as Antenna of the Device, ' has been created by Microsoft's Antenna and RF expert, Antti Karilainen, reported Deccan Chronicle. "We also regularly review other metrics to understand the experience we are providing to our customers and our findings show our products are in a much healthier place than noted by Consumer Reports". In findings published by Reuters, Consumer Reports said it was removing its recommendation of Microsoft's Surface range due to an above average breakage rate.

Consumer Reports has conducted its annual reliability study since 1952, starting with cars. And more recently shipped units of its popular devices are reliable and far less likely to suffer defects. The memo reveals the company is planning to share "a comprehensive set of data that reflects the strength of our quality and our customer sentiment" with partners, retail and sales personnel, and marketing teams.

And five, that Microsoft is determined to tell its story and to reassure its customers that it is serious about providing an excellent and high-quality experience to all Surface customers. And Microsoft believes it has turned the corner on those issues.
