The questions Google's CEO will have to answer today

Former Google engineer James Damore said he shared the 3,300-word memo internally a month ago

The engineer's widely shared memo, titled "Google's Ideological Echo Chamber", criticized Google for pushing mentoring and diversity programs and for "alienating conservatives".

During the interview with the Daily Wire's Ben Shapiro, Damore claimed that Google firing him for pushing "harmful gender stereotypes" only revealed the company's overblown emphasis on diversity, denying allegations that his memo had pushed "harmful gender stereotypes". Neither Damore nor Mountain View, California-based Google responded to a request for comment for this article.

- The Google campus on Thursday morning was buzzing with activity ahead of the "town hall" meeting to be hosted by Google's CEO. "This person is bad.' But they don't really want to have a debate on why I'm wrong, or even confront me, they just want to show how self-righteous they are", Damore said.

Despite circulating internally at Google for more a month, Damore became a lightening rod after Gizmodo published the memo in full over the weekend. It claims women "prefer jobs in social or artistic areas" while "more men may like coding", and that this split in personality was due to genetics rather than culture or societal constructs.

Priceline Group dropped 8 percent after issuing a profit forecast that was weaker than analysts were expecting. The Nasdaq closed down 18.13 at 6,352.33, while the S&P 500 dropped 0.91, ending the session at 2,474.01.

Justin Damore was sacked from the Silicon Valley behemoth on Monday after national attention around his 10-page assessment that biological differences between males and females explained the lack of women in engineering roles.

"It's much easier for some to point to "innate biological differences" than to confront the unconscious biases and obstacles that get in the way of a level playing field", Stellings wrote in an email. James Finberg, the civil rights attorney working on the potential lawsuit on behalf of Google's female employees, told the Guardian that female staff at the tech giant have earned less than men, despite being equally qualified.

Google, like other tech companies, has far fewer women than men in technology and leadership positions. Black or Hispanic workers: only about six percent in the U.S.

It added that Google threatened employees because of "protected" activities.
