The trial of a lawsuit between Swift and David Mueller, a former radio host she accuses of groping her, begins Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, in U.S. District Court in Denver.
Dressed in a business-like black jacket and white top, Swift, 27, one of the top-selling US singers, watched the proceedings in a federal courthouse, jotting notes on a pad of paper. During Monday's jury selection, Swift was seen wearing a black jacket and white top, with pulled-back hair.
The litigation centres on Taylor's allegations that Mr Mueller slipped his hand under her dress as they posed for a photo together during a meet-and-greet session ahead of her 2 June, 2013 concert in Denver.
He said she had cost him his $150,000-a-year job as a host at country station KYGO-FM.
Swift countersued the 55-year-old shock jock for assault and battery, claiming that her reps informed the radio station about the incident but didn't demand Mueller be fired.
Mueller says he was verbally abused and kicked out of the venue by her security.
His lawsuit denies anything inappropriate occurred during the brief backstage encounter in which he and his girlfriend stood on either side of the pop star.
But Baldridge, Swift's attorney, said the pop star was sure it was Mueller who touched her. Baldridge also argued that Mueller had repeatedly changed his story and had destroyed evidence in the case leading up to trial.
Opened arguments were expected by Tuesday afternoon.
Swift watched the proceedings closely, occasionally conferring with her counsel.
- Shannon Melcher, Mueller's girlfriend at the time, will testify about standing on the other side of Swift when the photo was taken, and to Mueller's character. Swift is seeking just $1 (77p), using the trial "an example to other women who may resist publicly reliving similar outrageous and humiliating acts".
The case is being heard in federal court because Swift and Mueller live in different states - Swift in Nashville, Tennessee, Mueller in Colorado - and damages at stake exceed $75,000. "Let's also be clear that falsely accusing someone of inappropriate touching is equally offensive, it's wrong and should not be tolerated", he said, insisting Mueller did not grab the singer's behind as she's claiming.
Mueller's attorney, Gabriel McFarland, showed the eight-member jury a picture from the photo shoot and said Mueller's hand was not under Swift's skirt. Officials expect the jury to be seated and opening statements to begin on Tuesday.
"I remember being frantic, distressed, feeling violated in a way I had never experienced before", Swift said.
