From Doklam to Rahul, read Sushma Swaraj's powerful Rajya Sabha speech

A man walks inside a conference room used for meetings between military commanders of China and India at the Indian side of the Indo China border at Bumla

Issuing a statement regarding India's bilateral relationship with Pakistan, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said terror and talks can not go together, in an attempt to answer the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

"We are shocked at the blatantly false and misleading statement given by the Minister for External Affairs on the floor of the House", Sharma said in a notice to the Rajya Sabha secretariat for moving a privilege motion against Swaraj. He said that the Chinese army will defend the country's territorial sovereignty and security interests.

Both Beijing and Thimphu claim the region, but Bhutan co-ordinates its relations with China through India.

"China has made it clear that there is no room for negotiation and the only solution is the unconditional and immediate withdrawal of Indian troops from the region", said a commentary Friday by the official Xinhua News Agency. The Indian border troops still illegally stay in the Chinese territory.

Rejecting the demand by some opposition parties to step up military presence along the border where it is locked in a face-off with China, Swaraj said wisdom lay in resolving the issue diplomatically.

The reaction of the Chinese defence ministry had come a day after India's External Affairs Ministry in a statement said peace and tranquility along the India-China boundary constituted the important prerequisite for a smooth development of bilateral relationship.

Attack on Rahul's convoy an expression of locals' anger towards him: BJP
Indirectly blaming Prime Minister Modi Rahul Gandhi soon after the incident said stones can not stop him from serving the people. Yet all these MLAs are a part of the 44 MLAS who have been shepherded to Bengaluru before the August 8 Rajya Sabha election.

India fears that the road-building activity would allow Chinese troops to cut its access to the seven states in the Northeast. "India's intrusion into the Chinese territory under the pretext of Bhutan", it continued, "has not only violated China's territorial sovereignty but also challenged Bhutan's sovereignty and independence".

He also said that India has been in continuous coordination and consultation with Bhutan on the Dokalam issue. The Chinese foreign ministry on Wednesday mentioned a "non-paper" provided by the Indian side during a meeting of the special representatives on the boundary issue on May 10, 2006. If China was able to block the corridor, it would isolate India's northeast from the rest of the country. He said managing of the periphery comes first and that is of critical importance.

China is taking an increasingly tough line on a border row with India amid a rising crescendo of nationalism in state media, and President Xi Jinping looks set for an awkward encounter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a multilateral summit next month. It accepts that "Doklam is of huge strategic significance to India, due to its proximity to the Siliguri Corridor", but also calls India's security concerns unwarranted. We should ensure that we engage with all of them.

Summary: Escalating the tension between India and China due to Doklam standoff, the Chinese Defence Ministry once again has warned India.

India's slowly and steadily tilting foreign policy has been antagonising China.
