Trump replaces chief of staff Priebus with retired General Kelly

White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci speaks to members of the media at the White House in Washington. Scaramucci went after chief of staff Reince Priebus on Thursday as a suspected

According to President Trump's Twitter account, the new White House Chief of Staff is General/Secretary John F. Kelly.

Kelly said he gets "occasional letters from Gold Star families who are asking, 'Was it worth it?' And I always go back with this: It doesn't matter". Apparently, Ball is not quite as sold on the Washington political lifestyle as Scaramucci, 53. "We accomplished a lot together and I am proud of him!"

Trump issued his decision just as he landed aboard Air Force One after a visit to Long Island and hours after Republican efforts to repeal Obamacare failed in the Senate.

It also comes a week after Trump hired Wall Street businessman Anthony Scaramucci, a move that sparked a long-rumored shake-up among the president's top aides. "I said, 'you can take the hand away, ' okay?"

Priebus also said his views on Trump haven't changed, adding he's still a fan of the President.

"He knows how to do this: with common sense and good leadership", said Kelly's longtime friend, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to offer frank opinions. After news of Priebus' exit, Ryan said his friend "has left it all out on the field, for our party and our country".

That being said, Priebus didn't deny the possibility that a "leaking problem" now exists in the White House, but stated it would be up to Kelly to find the culprits and prevent further leaks to the press.

A Marine, Kelly served in the military for almost five decades and served in positions, including Chief of Southern Command and senior Assistant to the Secretary of Defence.

Major power outage on Outer Banks; 9000 homes impacted
By Friday morning, portable generators had power going to some local businesses, bringing back some normalcy to parts of Hatteras. A few hours later a fault was found in a transmission cable attached to the Bonner Bridge.

Kelly acknowledges that when he took over DHS, his department was created to be less responsive to Congress and the press, something he realized over time he should work to correct.

Several administration positions that were usually managed by the chief of staff now reported directly to Mr Trump. Retired Gen. James Mattis is Trump's defense secretary, and Trump's first choice for national security adviser was retired Army Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn. He has helped seal the border and reduced illegal immigration by 70%.

Trump appeared to foreshadow the announcement earlier Friday during a speech to law enforcement officals.

In a statement, Kelly said he is "honored" to be asked to serve as the chief of staff.

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of SC, a frequent Trump critic, welcomed Kelly as "one of the strongest and most natural leaders I've ever known". To the tremendous men and women of DHS, I thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Secretary. Yet, just days after taking office, he had to lead the agency as it dealt with the chaos and confusion that ensued at airports in the US and around the world.

Kelly is now the secretary of Homeland Security. In July, he reportedly told members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus that the administration wouldn't commit to defending the Deferred Action for Child Arrivals program (DACA), which prevents undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S.at a young age from being deported, in court.

Elaine Duke, the deputy secretary of Homeland security will become the acting head of the department. The department said Friday in a statement that Kelly remains secretary until Monday.
