Trump names John Kelly chief of staff, replacing Reince Priebus

"I am pleased to inform you that I have just named General/Secretary John F. Kelly as White House Chief of Staff", Trump said on Twitter. Though Priebus forged an uneasy truce with his former foe Bannon, powerful White House aides Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, were both supportive of Kelly's hire, according to a person familiar with the matter but not authorized to speak publicly about private discussions.

Kelly is now the secretary of Homeland Security.

However, he said he feels confident Trump will protect Iowa's status as the first state to vote in the presidential nominating process - the biggest national priority for Iowa's state parties - and likes John Kelly, the Homeland Security secretary Trump appointed as Priebus' successor. "He's a great American".

Kelly is now the secretary of Homeland Security.

In addition, the former chairman of the Republican National Committee ripped Democrats for the "minuscule amount of cooperation" they have given President Trump.

Priebus, as party chairman a year ago, was slow to embrace Trump's candidacy, and the president never let his chief of staff forget it. Trump had often joked about his chief of staff's long-term loyalty and liked reminding the people around him that Priebus suggested that he consider dropping out after the "Access Hollywood" tape of Trump's crude remarks about women was made public in October. "Reince is a good man", Trump said.

In an interview on CNN last night, Priebus said he talked to Trump on Thursday and offered his resignation.

Then, he was the subject of a remarkable public rebuke on Thursday by the new White House communications director.

Brics Summit: NSA Ajit Doval holds talks with Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi
Beginning from Thursday Ajit Doval will attend the two-day BRICS National Security Advisers meet in Beijing . It is to be seen if Doval and China's top diplomat Yang Jiechi will meet on the sidelines of the summit.

Priebus also was blamed by some within the White House for the failure of the Republican health care plan, with some Trump allies believing that Priebus' longtime relationships with Republicans on Capitol Hill should have ensured the bill's passage.

The move followed months of on-again, off-again speculation that Priebus would soon be ousted from an administration where he has consistently drawn heavy criticism for failing to stem the flow of leaks and struggled to impose a sense of order in a chaotic White House beset by controversies.

Trump issued his decision just as he landed aboard Air Force One after a visit to Long Island.

"We don't talk that way down here", Hayes said. Scaramucci was angling for the chief of staff position, but Priebus was named instead. "The fact that we can't get it done in two swings at the plate or so - I look at these as foul balls, and I think our team is still in there swinging".

"I'm not going to get into the weeds on that", Preibus said.

Scarmucci called a reporter for the New Yorker on Thursday and launched into a profanity-laced tirade in which he voiced his contempt for Priebus and other top Trump advisers. Those who have departed include former deputy chief of staff Katie Walsh, former communications chief Mike Dubke, press secretary Sean Spicer and press aide Michael Short.

The split also has important implications for investors, who have keenly awaited signs Trump will introduce massive tax cuts as well as a spending boost.
